God's Voice In Everyday Life
And so we pray and ask God to speak to us.
But DO we really GIVE Him the opportunity to talk to us?
As I was praying this morning, I realized that while I do long for God's guidance and His voice in my life, I might not give him the space to be there for me at the same time. To be more specific I was thinking about this in regards with music. The thing with me is that I LOVE to listen to music. I'm a big big music fan and I pretty much have headphones in my ears whenever there's the chance. It's most of the time when I commute somewhere around Prague or even home, when I'm working on something.
But I know that lot of times God spoke to me in moments that I wouldn't even expect Him to. We usually have this opinion that God talks to us most during church or during our quiet time with Him. However I think that God wants to speak to us during these "old and boring" everyday activities (such as driving/commuting to work, cleaning the house, you name it) AS WELL.
And it just struck me today that while it's fine that I love music, I CANNOT let it be more important than God's voice. I might be taking all those opportunities for Him to talk to me away from Him just because I don't feel like just sitting in the subway train without any exciting music playing in my ears. Plus if you guys are in a phase in your life when you are counting on God's guidance and don't want to do something against His will, I think it's crucial for you to make sure you give God all the space possible to talk to you!
And this can be applied to any area of your life. So is there anything that might be regularly distracting you from His voice?
