A Different Kind of a New Year's Resolution
But before you set up yourself for another disappointment this year, take a minute and think about the way you are seeing this whole "New Year's Resolutions" issue. I'm not going to tell you all those tips about not expecting big results right away, not pushing yourself too hard or not taking challenges that are way too big. It's very likely you already know all of this.
I want you to look at this in a completely different way. Don't focus on what YOU think you need, lack or want. Instead ask what GOD wants you to change in your life. Pray patiently, seek intentionally, ask humbly: What does God want me to get better at, or to stop doing? Maybe there's something in your life you should get rid of. Maybe there's something you need to start doing. Whatever the case is, you can be sure God will tell you.
We all should strive for better ourselves and doing it with God is the best way how to do so. New Year is a great time for evaluating the place we are at in the moment and for starting new things in our lives.
Keep in mind that it doesn't have to be a list 10 pages long, it can be only one thing you (meaning - God) want to focus on this next season of your life. I prayed and felt God told me I should focus on self-control so I am going to work on that for now. And maybe there's going to be something else in six months but that's ok, it doesn't have to be for the whole year, maybe you will succeed faster than you plan. Remember that you're not doing it for anyone else, you're not doing it for approval of others. You are doing it for you. For better you.
